# Write a Google Business Profile post or seasonal offer, and check claims and prices

Turn a seasonal offer or piece of news into a ready-to-paste Google Business Profile post, with missing terms, phone numbers and risky claims flagged before you publish.

- Category: Marketing basics
- Difficulty: Easy
- Setup: about 10 minutes
- Time saved: about 20 minutes a use (our estimate, not a measurement)
- Works with: Any AI chat, Google Business Profile
- Test status: Run once on made-up data on 21 Oct 2026 with Claude. One run, not proof.
- Approval: Draft, not yet approved by the owner
- Version: 1
- Last checked: 2026-10-21

## What this does

Give the AI your offer or news with real dates, price and terms. It drafts a title, post text, terms and a photo idea for your Google Business Profile, and flags missing terms, phone numbers and claims you'd need to prove. You check it and post it yourself.

## Before you start

- Any AI chat (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot), and access to your Google Business Profile.
- The facts: offer, start and end dates and times, price or discount, any code and limits.
- Setup: about 10 minutes (our estimate).
- Privacy: no customer names or photos without their OK.

## Steps

1. **Pick** the post type: Update (news), Offer (Google asks for a title, dates and times) or Event (title, start and end dates).
2. **Write down** every fact, including limits like "one per household" and whether it combines with other deals.
3. **Paste** the prompt into your AI chat and fill in the brackets.
4. **Fill** every UNCLEAR, then check CLAIMS TO CHECK and prices against your real price list.
5. **Post** it: in your Business Profile, select Posts, then Add post, and choose Update, Offer or Event. Paste the text, add the photo (and a button for Updates or Events; Google says Offer posts get a "View offer" button automatically), and select Post.
6. **Check** the post's status later: Live, Pending or Not approved. A question mark next to "Not approved" points to the policy issue.

## The prompt

```
Help me write a Google Business Profile post. Use only what I give you. Don't post anything.
Business: [name, type, town]
Post type: [Update, Offer or Event]
What I want to share: [the news or offer]
Details: [title idea, start and end dates, times, price or discount, coupon code, terms]
Button: [for example Call now, Book, Learn more]
Other notes: [anything else]
Write:
1. A short title (for Offer or Event posts).
2. Post text of 60-150 words: what it is, who it's for, the dates, and what to do next.
3. Terms in one or two lines (for offers): who qualifies, dates, limits.
4. A photo idea.
Rules: Use only my facts, dates and prices. If dates, times, limits or terms are missing, write UNCLEAR. Don't put a phone number, email or social handle in the text; suggest the Call now button instead. Don't use "best," "guaranteed" or "lowest price" claims; list any from my notes under CLAIMS TO CHECK.
```

## Try it with made-up data

Business: Bluebird Plumbing & Drain, Marlow Springs. Post type: Offer. Share: winter prep, $40 off a water heater flush in November. Details: November 1 to 30, 2030; $40 off a standard tank water heater flush; code WINTER40. Button: Call now. Notes: "One per household? Not sure. Call us at 555-0142. Lowest prices in town, guaranteed."

## What the AI gave us

> **Title:** $40 off a water heater flush in November
>
> **Post:** Getting your home ready for winter? Sediment can build up inside a tank water heater over time. From November 1 to 30, 2030, Bluebird Plumbing & Drain is taking $40 off a standard tank water heater flush. Mention code WINTER40 when you book. Tap Call now to set up a visit.
>
> **Terms:** $40 off a standard tank water heater flush, November 1 to 30, 2030, code WINTER40. Start and end times: UNCLEAR. Limit per household: UNCLEAR (your notes aren't sure). Combining with other offers: UNCLEAR.
>
> **Photo idea:** a tank water heater in a tidy utility room, or your van outside a home (no customer faces or house numbers).
>
> Removed: the phone number from the text. Use the Call now button instead.
>
> CLAIMS TO CHECK: "Lowest prices in town, guaranteed" is a price comparison plus a guarantee. You'd need proof and a written guarantee policy to use it.

The phone number and "lowest price" claim were kept out, and missing terms flagged. One mismatch to catch: this is an Offer post, and Google's help page says Offer posts automatically get a "View offer" button. It doesn't list Call now for offers. So "Tap Call now" and "Use the Call now button" may not match what customers see. Change those lines to fit the post's real button, or check what your profile allows first. The owner still had to set the times and the household limit, and confirm the sediment line, which the AI added on its own (accurate here, but not in the notes).

## Check before you send

- [ ] Price, discount, code and dates match the real offer.
- [ ] Terms say who qualifies and any limits.
- [ ] No phone numbers, emails or handles in the text; Google may reject a post with a phone number it can't verify.
- [ ] No "best," "lowest" or "guaranteed" claims unless you can prove them.
- [ ] Any line the AI added on its own is true.
- [ ] Photos show only people who agreed.

## Don't paste

- Customer names, addresses or photos of their homes.
- Your Google account login or recovery codes.
- Card numbers or sales records.

## When not to use this

- For hotels. Google doesn't let hotels post offers or deals.
- For prices that change often.
- For complaints or review replies. Use the review reply guide.

## Questions owners ask

**How long do Google Business Profile posts stay up?**
Google archives posts older than six months unless you set a date range.

**Can I send this offer by email too?**
Yes, but email has its own rules. Under CAN-SPAM, a marketing email needs your valid postal address and a working unsubscribe link, and opt-outs must be honored within 10 business days. Only email customers who agreed to hear from you.
